10th Anniversary Over
Nov 06, 2007 at 01:43 PM
I'm on the road with Jigzag at the time of these words & it's been a really wonderful tour. I really mean that- full of wonder. To think that the three of us started busking tunes in the central tunnel of an afternoon & playing Van Morrison songs in Irish pubs throughout the weekend. They were mostly four hour gigs back in the days when people smoked cigarettes & talked over a lot of what we played. It was really hard work but we were bursting with energy & smiling at each other and new ideas & songs were taking shape in our heads. I've been thinking of those long rehearsals we had fuelled by spicy chai & Caroline's stir-fry (choking on the pungent aroma of fried chillies). The tour has been a time of reflection to appreciate the good changes (audiences listening, laughing, dancing, no cigarettes, no Van Morrison!) & also the things that are the same today as they were ten years ago (smiles across the stage, Greg's powerhouse rhythm, Caroline's endlessly angelic improvisations & rehearsals with chai & stir-fry!). Audiences have enjoyed looking at our Anniversary photo album & hearing stories of our journeys & the birth of songs old & new.

This weekend is last chance to be part of the tour as we complete the circle back in Sydney where it all started. For all of you in the Blue Mountains come to the Clarendon on Thursday for the first live DVD filming show, Central Coasters can reminisce with us about the old days at the Star Hotel at Morriset Tennis Club on Friday (& help me celebrate my birthday!!), Wollongong folks can come up for an afternoon picnic at Stanwell Park Saturday afternoon, & Sydney folk- please come & make lots of noise for the cameras filming our 10th Anniversary DVD at the Bald Faced Stag. See you there! ~liz
